A Reorientation (St. Francis of Assisi)
(Text: Luke 12.22-32) Jesus is calling us to a reorientation. A reorientation that, if we took it seriously enough, just might save this planet, and its many endangered life forms, including our own. Who are you going to serve?
“You cannot serve God and wealth.” That’s the conclusion of today’s gospel. So what do you think? Is it true? Not everyone thinks so. “When the Pharisees, who loved money, heard him say these things, they rolled their eyes, dismissing him as hopelessly out of touch.” So is Jesus hopelessly out of touch on this? He’s talks about money a lot. He seems to think it’s important, and yet at the same time, he calls wealth a little thing, “very little” compared to the “true riches
